Duke Raleigh Hospital
Raleigh, NC
Overview
Duke Health performed a major expansion of its existing campus in Raleigh, North Carolina with the addition of a new Inpatient Tower and surgery department expansion. The CUP was constructed to increase capacity and redundancy of the chill water, steam and electrical genera&on systems to facilitate the expansion of the campus.
The project was managed through Robins & Morton. The engineer of record for the project was Affiliated Engineers Inc. EAS was engaged during early schema&c level design of the project to assist with design, layout and coordination of the central utility plant. EAS then transitioned into final design and construction of the project with delivery in July of 2018.

Project Highlights
-
10,080 SF chiller plant footprint comprised of (32) module sections and cooling tower platform.
-
The central utility plant was fabricated in its entirety in EAS’ High Point, NC facility.
-
EAS self-performed all installation, reconnection and startup of the CUP.
-
The central utility plant consisted of centrifugal chillers, steam boilers, cold water pumping systems, Steam System, cooling towers, air elimination components and full electrical package with emergency generator and associated gear.
