Overview

Cellectis Biopharmaceuticals performed a major retrofit of an existing purchased facility in Raleigh, North Carolina. This new facility was built for clinical and commercial production of Cellectis’s leading allogeneic UCART products. The project was managed through the construction arm of CRB Engineers with CRB Engineers also providing engineering services for the facility. EAS was engaged during early schema&c level design of the project to assist with design, layout and coordination of the mechanical penthouse. EAS then transitioned into final design and construction of the project with delivery in April of 2020

Project Highlights

  • 5,500 SF Penthouse Footprint comprised of (12) modular sections.

  • The penthouse was fabricated in its entirety in EAS’s High Point, NC Facility

  • The penthouse consisted of Custom Air Handling Units, Make-up Air Handling Units, individual supply duct drops with ReHeat coils mounted in each supply drop contained in the penthouse, normal exhaust fans, high dilution exhaust fans for lab space, clean steam generators, penthouse conditioning, cold water, hot water, and steam piping systems and full electrical package

Project Details

  • (8) Custom Air Handling Units with cooling, heating, humidification, filtration, some units configured in stacked to (2) level layout, Day One total capacity of 68,400 CFM, Space reserved for Day Two capacity of (3) Future Custom Air Handling Units

  • (2) Custom make-up air handling units with cooling heating, humidification, filtration, total capacity of 15,000 CFM

  • (25) Individual Supply drops with associated RH Coils

  • (2) AHU with main trunk supply feeding below

  • (1) 1,200 CFM general exhaust Fan from rooms, associate mexhaust stack from fan to roof of penthouse

  • (1) 7,500 CFM high dilution lab exhaust fan

  • (5) Gas to Steam Generators

  • (2) Heating Hot Water Recirculation Pumps, 1/2HP each, 40 GPM

  • (1) Heating Hot Water Recirculation Pump, 1/2HP each, 30 GPM

  • (1) Heating Hot Water Recirculation Pump, 1/2HP each, 22 GPM

  • VFDs for fans

  • (2) 600A 480V Panelboard

  • (2) 400A 480V Panelboard

  • (1) 40A 480V Panelboard

  • (1) 30A 480V Panelboard

  • (2) 100A 208/120V Panelboard

  • Penthouse walls & roof: 2” foam filled architectural panel with Kynar finish, Roof to have membrane finish, 12” structural base with integral pipe, duct and equipment supports

  • AHU construction from EAS panel System

  • Conditioning of penthouse provide by FCU with heating and cooling

  • Penthouse Duct work fabricated from a combination of the traditional sheet-metal and EAS Panel System

  • EAS to provide skirting of steel dunnage support of the penthouse with color matched material to align with exterior of Penthouse

  • Integration of required structural support points with Penthouse structure

  • Misc. power, control and service switches
