Notable Healthcare & Hospital Projects
Surgical Center of Greensboro
EAS Companies worked closely with the owner and general contractor to select and design the HVAC system for the Surgical Center of Greensboro. In a healthcare environment where patient safety, system reliability, and schedule control are critical, this project required a coordinated mechanical solution built for long-term performance.
Within 18 months, EAS completed a fully integrated mechanical system that included chilled water, hot water, medical gas, and full DDC controls. The result was a precisely delivered infrastructure package—all without disrupting the hospital's operations.
University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center
As a design-assist partner, EAS Companies collaborated on the delivery of a central utility plant for the University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center, creating critical infrastructure that supports both the hospital and the broader regional healthcare network serving the Washington, DC, area.
Through off-site construction, EAS provided an engineered modular CUP that integrated core plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems into a single complete solution. Spanning approximately 30,000 square feet and shipped in 93 primary sections, the project included a full turnkey scope with controls and installation.
Duke Raleigh Hospital
As part of a major expansion at Duke Raleigh Hospital, EAS Companies designed and built a central utility plant that strengthened chilled water, steam, and electrical generation systems without disrupting patient care.
The 10,080-square-foot chiller plant was implemented as an engineered modular solution comprising 32 module sections and a cooling tower platform. EAS managed the full scope, from design and off-site manufacturing through installation, reconnection, and start-up, serving as a single accountable partner for a complex healthcare construction project.
Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia
EAS completed a comprehensive off-site construction project for the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, working alongside the engineer of record to design and fabricate an 18,000-square-foot air handler penthouse. Throughout the ten-month project, EAS successfully consolidated the unit's mechanical layout to reduce the penthouse's overall height and footprint.
By delivering almost the entire 13th floor of the hospital as an off-site fabricated module, EAS significantly reduced the required field scope and accelerated the overall project schedule. The complete technical delivery included three 75,000 CFM custom air handlers, integrated plumbing and piping systems, and a fully coordinated electrical package.
Dana Farber Cancer Institute
Partnering with BR+A Engineers, EAS delivered off-site construction and installation supervision for a new mechanical penthouse at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Over a six-month duration, the team constructed a specialized penthouse measuring approximately 45 by 30 feet, featuring a 12,000 CFM air handling unit.
The fully integrated off-site solution included natural gas boilers, a multistack air-cooled chiller, and complex piping for process chilled water, glycol, and steam systems. This coordinated approach allowed for a complete electrical and mechanical package to be delivered efficiently while minimizing disruption to the facility.
Rockingham Memorial Hospital
EAS served as the design-assist mechanical contractor alongside DPR and GS&P for the new 600,000-square-foot Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg, Virginia. On this highly fast-tracked project, work commenced even before the final drawings were completed to meet demanding timeline requirements.
EAS managed the complete mechanical and plumbing scope, directly collaborating with the general contractor and engineering teams to identify critical cost-saving measures across scheduling, alternate materials, and labor. The massive $59 million infrastructure effort included installing 450,000 feet of pipe and 1.5 million pounds of ductwork across the main facility, boiler plant, wastewater building, and several other campus structures.
